He believes that as a business owner, the smartest thing he could do is team up with people who know things he doesn’t, so that he could improve and develop new skills.

San Kai Japanese Restaurant was launched in September 2010 with a complete set up by Chef Tetsuo Inoue who has over 30 years of experience in Japanese Food Industry. “San Kai” means “Mountain Ocean”. The reason for the name was exclusively related to Japanese food and Japanese culture. In the olden days, the unpolluted resources and the purest ingredients are both from the mountain and the ocean. Therefore, San Kai’s aspiration is undoubtedly to deliver both the former and the latter.

Meet San Kai’s Renowned Chef

Chef Tetsuo Inoue

Chef Tetsuo Inoue was born in Kyushu Island, the southernmost part of Japan’s four main islands. This island takes great pride in its food and culture. Kyushu’s volcanic soil is packed with nutrients as a result of its temperate climate, making the area an agricultural paradise. Beautiful Kyushu is also surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Japan Sea and the East China Sea, which is why it is a popular spot for seafood.

Chef Inoue received practical training in Kaiseki cuisine, a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner. Kaiseki balances the taste, texture, appearance, and colours of food. He is also best known for his unique style of presenting food, a technique he mastered during his career’s early years in Osaka, the City of Food. In the 1980s, he moved to Australia to work for a prestigious company and has remained in the country since. His Japanese and Western fusion cuisine continuously satisfies customers. He has made it an art to balance both cuisines, while consistently maintaining an authentic Japanese tradition.

‘Eat healthy and live long’ originated from a traditional Japanese ritual. Chef Inoue effortlessly spreads the similar practice to new generation.
